What a game! Let us hope Denard Robinson stays healthy, that we find a reliable RB and that our defense improves.

Still, this is a time to celebrate. We are 2-0 against two solid teams and could be ranked in the top 25 as early as Monday. We should be 5-0 when the Spartans come calling and MSU and Iowa are home games this year, so 6-1 or even 7-0 is not inconceivable.

There was plenty of celebration here in Markley. I only saw the end of the first quarter, score at halftime, and the last half of the fourth quarter though.

it was a great game today but this is about where we thought we were a year ago so I will reserve judgment. This team could win anywhere from five to nine games. Tonight we’ll celebrate the victory.

i’m a sparty fan but i was definitely rooting for michigan in this game. good job guys but i’m hating the bandwagoners that are calling rose bowl, etc. let’s just let some more games play out.

I agree that Robinson is good. I am and always have been a huge UMICH fan, and now that my sister is a freshman there I am even more dedicated. I’m glad that the program isn’t as horrid as last year. I don’t like this style though. I guess when it comes to football I’m more of a conventionalist. I prefer a Peyton Manning to a Michael Vick. I’m worried that eventually teams are gonna catch Robinson’s number just like they figured out Vick after a while.

I agree. I am going to take this season one game at a time! 5-0 seems pretty obvious. However, the last 7 games of the season are going to be TOUGH! We get MSU and Iowa at home, travel to PSU (these could easily go 0-3), then get a two game breather with Illinois and Purdue and then end the season vs Wisconsin and at OSU. 6-6 or 7-5 are my expectation for now.

Agree 100%. There are no guarantees and anything can happen. But barring unusual circumstances or major injuries, I think 5-0 is a fair expectation.

On a side note I thought it was a real slap in the face to put in the freshman when Denard got winded. I felt bad for Tate. Hopefully he can transfer somewhere. I don’t see he and Rich Rodriguez ever gelling. Rodriguez’s style of play does not fit the type of QB Forcier is.

Denard’s numbers are very impressive and should remain impressive through the month of September. Come October 2nd Michigan should be 5-0 and Denard, barring injury, should have racked up over 1,000 passing yards (with a 65%-70% completion rate and 5-8 passing TDs) and over 1,000 rushing yards (averaging 7-8 yards per carry and 7-10 rushing TDs).

I just wonder if he can maintain this sort of productivity with the likes of Iowa, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin and OSU. Even if he can, Michigan will still lose 3-4 games and he will NOT win the Heisman, but should his performance diminish, Michigan had better find more weapons on Offense or we’re looking at another 5-6 loss season.

^Lol Alexandre, weren’t you one of those predicting that ‘at worst, Michigan will go 7-5!!’ at around this time last year? Stop jinxing it!! No more predictions for you!

collegebound_guy, one player alone will not make RR keep his job. Denard may continue to play the way he does, but against good teams like Iowa, PSU, Wisconsin and OSU, we are going to need solid defensive and kicking performances and other players (especially RBs) to step up on offense because Denard will get hurt or burn out at the rate he is going.

Good defenses, such as Iowa, PSU, Wisconsin and OSU, can easily contain a one trick pony and any team with a good QB and solid OL can pick our defense apart. If Michigan goes 0-4 against those four teams, RR could lose his job…unless Michigan can manage to win all the other games on its schedule, which is unlikely considering that we play MSU and Iowa.

Also, let us not take credit away from RR and his staff. We all saw how mediocre Denard was last year. The new Denard that is entertaining all of us is a product of good coaching and of RR’s system.

For now, we should enjoy our #20 ranking and hope we can sustain our offensive production while improving our defenvive and kicking performance.
