DeNeve Dining Hall: Stolen Backpack

I saw a sign today that someone posted, about a stolen Targus backpack that included notebooks, etc.

What's somewhat amusing and worth discussing are the following lines on the post (not exact):

"Please return the backpack to the DeNeve front desk, no questions will be asked. My friends saw you steal the backpack, and we figured out who you were on facebook. If you don't return the backpack, we will call the police and have them take action. We even had a surveilance camera to have proof, so please take action. (something like that)"

What's lame is this:

1) If your friend knew that the backpack was being taken away, then stop the person. Why are you catching this on tape instead of taking action?

2) How can you find this person on facebook, unless spend a lot of time online just to track down this person? Ties to #1, you should just stop that person when you had the chance instead of doing this "crime investigation".

3) It was your fault for probably leaving your backpack out. Why are telling this even to the public indirectly, when only you and the suspect are involved and responsible for this case?

I don't know if you have seen it .. but yeah if you have .. what are your thoughts?

lol.

And why post it publicly instead of appealing directly to the "culprit". I doubt a public plea/threat would encourage anyone to hand it over.

God. So much drama around here this week.

it's true allie...too much drama..

i've had family members call me asking me what's going on over here....even people who don't live in this state (and one who doesn't even live in this country) are asking me about things going on here...haha.

UCLA...i LOL at you.

my friend from sacramento called me today to ask about the taser incident since he heard it on the radio

Yeah it's all over the news, all over the internet, all over everything.

There have already been TWO looooong Fark threads about the incident. HuffPo and Perez and their mothers have all written stories which their commenters have completely misunderstood and twisted to hell.

I'll be happy when the coverage dies down.

me too...this is getting way out of hand

Mmmm... bluffing.

We were so close to a UCLA trifecta on Fark yesterday.

Definitely.
Stop the drama.
I'M SICK OF IT.

speaking of drama, did anyone hear about the former cornerback Marcus Cassel who passed away due to a car accident today?

http://uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/111706aaa.html

i saw that sign. i was thinking the same thing.

it's a trick...if they knew who stole the backpack they wouldn't have posted the sign.

I heard about Marcus... it made me very sad on a personal level. I used to be good friends with his younger bro Jason back in the middle school days, til they moved cities and we kinda lost contact. It was cool seeing Marcus do well here, and I didn't wanna believe it at first. RIP Marcus

Also, apparently one of our current player's (Jeremy McGee) mom passed away today too... definitely hasn't been a good day or really, good week for the UCLA family.

there are no security cameras there - it's a lie.

I bet the person who stole the backpack was a pre-med.

HAHA you are funny.

Anyways, it's so funny that virtually 25% the freshmen class are declaring themselves as Pre Med.

I wonder what they will be next year, if not next quarter. :)

lol yeah i know so many premeds in september who are already changing their minds after midterms :)

me too! haha
