Okay I'm a rising first year and I'm hoping to get into Mcintire and therefore I NEEED to take an Econ 2010 class for my first semester to take all the prerequisites. and I just found out I got DENIED. and all the other classes have 10+ kids waitlisted. What can I do?? I NEED to take this class no matter what or I can't even APPLY to Mcintire!!
please help!!!

Calm down, you have time! Get your other prerequisites out of the way and take Econ 2010 next semester when you have a better scheduling slot. You could always show up to the class with a course action form and get the instructors approval to take it.

Is that something the OP could take during J term? Just wondering since son is planning double major and will possibly be at UVa during a summer or two to make it happen. Is Econ offered during J term?

Isn’t the system set up so that you can take the first 2 econ classes either first year or second year to apply to McIntire???

Just make sure you are getting other required classes out of the way this year.

Also, taking micro before macro is recommended but not required. You should be able to get into macro in the spring, then you just need micro next fall.

same deal, i’m planning on taking econ second year - micro in the Fall and macro in the Spring.

ohhh so i can take Econ 2010 during the spring semester and then Econ 2020 during the next fall semester and i would still be able to get most of my prerequistes?
thanks for reassuring me! i was freaking out, i thought it was supposed to go in a specific order or something.

The large classes are macro in the spring and micro in the fall each year. You could take macro this coming spring and micro next fall, or you could take micro next fall and macro spring of 2013. You can confirm this with the McIntire website, but my understanding is that as long as you have both done by the end of your 2nd year (along with other prereqs and language, etc.), you are fine.

Econ 2010 is offered in the summer at UVA (at NVCC too, which is cheaper and the credit is accepted, but it will not affect your UVA GPA, so I don’t know how it affects McIntire admissions).
