Denison Class of 2025 Regular Decision

Do they accept mid year grades since my school sent them

We got the email the other day. Decisions on Mar 4.

I’m sure they’re trying to get students off the waitlist. It seems fair and honest to me that they would want already committed students to tell them

True – Denison had over 9000 applications this year. If there are students who applied but are no longer interested, I can imagine it would be helpful for Admissions to know that so they could admit, rather than waitlist, other students next week.

D21 has had other schools also ask her to withdraw if she’s chosen another school. Many do this. S19 got messages like that too so it’s not all about this pandemic year. I wouldn’t read anything into that.

I’ve been seeing this a lot. If you don’t mind, what does D21 mean?

Our daughter graduating high school in 2021

Thnk you

9000 is a lot of applications.

Watch for the rest of your emails from colleges telling you the decision day for RD. Mark my words. They will all sat something about withdrawing if you’ve already made a decision. Davidson’s said the same thing. BC’s said the same thing. S19’s emails said the same thing. It’s what schools do.

It just came out that RD will be released on March 4 at 6PM.

Just curious, do business/econ majors or even non artsy/musical students have a better chance of getting in?

Also, will merit be included in acceptance letters on Thursday?

As a small school, Denison doesn’t seem too worried about filling majors or prioritizing specific majors. Fit in terms of campus community is more important than area of academic interest.

I think merit is included with admission decision, as best I recall with my own kid’s process and with more recent admission cycles where students were announcing admission and x merit.

I didn’t mean filling up spots for certain majors. I was wondering whether the school aims to diversify the students-ethnically AND socially.

I don’t think Denison pays that much attention to intended majors in its admissions decisions. The nature of the school is that students are encouraged to explore and try new areas once they arrive, so there’s really no knowing where any particular student will end up in terms of major by the time they are a sophomore. Also, on the other question, I can confirm that merit was included with the acceptances as recently as two years ago.

Thanks but I didn’t mean filling up spots for certain majors. I was wondering whether the school aims to diversify the students-ethnically AND socially.

Yes, Denison absolutely prioritizes ethnic, racial, economic diversity.

Sorry, I answered too quickly! As @Midwestmomofboys says, Denison does work hard on diversity of all kinds, and they do it in a meaningful way. They don’t just focus on getting the demographic statistics right, they create an environment that encourages people to come together. My son is Asian and grew up entirely overseas, and he has had a terrific experience and developed an amazingly diverse network of friends.
