Greetings everyone,
I am in need of guidance to those either familiar with IAI or DePaul University in general. I’ve come into a massive conflict with the status of AP Credits and my Associates Degree.
For input, I am supposed to be a third year student, however there are a number of complications preventing that. I have an Associates, which according to DePaul: “Students who have earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree or Associate of Science (AS) degree from an IAI participating institution have satisfied the requirements for the GECC/IAI.” (http://www.depaul.edu/university-catalog/academic-handbooks/undergraduate/undergraduate-academic-policies/Pages/transfer-credit-illinois-articulation-initiative-iai.aspx)
By their own accord, I should be able to transition seamlessly with my credits. My problem arises from AP Credits, which I processed as classes at my community college and used to get over a semester and a half’s worth of full time credit.
The conflict is that despite my degree and the fact that I have used those processed AP credits to get my degree, it appears DePaul may be unwilling to accept those credits regardless because of their different standards for scores.
This would put me below far below the credits I earned towards my associate’s degree. At the same time, I feel that the IAI provision is not being honored correctly. While they may not agree with the scores, the credit was already processed and used towards a degree from a IAI participating institution, and they are supposed to honor this, no?
I need input because I’m totally lost as to how to argue my point, or rather, if my point is correct in the first place. Has anyone ever had a situation like this? And if so, how was it resolved?
