Has anyone visited, or does anyone currently attend? I'm looking for insight on the campus vibe, activities, academics, etc. It would help to hear this from a real-life person and not just words on their website

Also, does anyone know how generous they are with financial aid?

Hello, I am currently a senior in High School and visited DePaul in the Spring of 2013. I am more than willing to share with you a few thoughts about the school.

I checked out DePaul at first because it is in Chicago. My sister is a Freshman at University of Chicago and when I went to visit with her I really, really liked the city. I really liked DePaul on my visit for a number of reasons. The first is that a lot of the facilities, (Dorms included) are either new or have been renovated recently. I visited when it was cold outside and the Dorm that we were shown was very warm on the inside and had a very luxurious vibe to it. I’m blanking on the name but I think it is the nicest dorm they offer. Despite being in an Urban environment, I still thought that DePaul had a pretty nice, roomy campus feeling. It seemed pretty inhabited by students, and I was led to believe that many choose to live off campus, which is why the number of commuters to the school is so high.

The next day I toured the Loop Campus because I am interested in studying Business, and the facilities there were even more impressive. Apparently a graduate of the Business school got extremely rich and thought that his DePaul education was so worthwhile that he paid a generous sum of money to have the school improved. The classes we were shown were state of the art, all in downtown Chicago. I know I am sounding like a brochure, but trust me here.

In terms of financial aid, I applied in late October with a 3.4 weighted GPA and a 30 on my ACT. I was awarded the Dean’s Honor Scholarship which covers up to 15,000 dollars of the yearly tuition (roughly half). I got 13,000.

I think that it’s fair to say that DePaul will definitely accept you, and most likely give you about as much (if not more) money based on your academic record. Did you retake the SAT to get your scores up? That would definitely increase the amount of money they give you.

Yeah, I did. I recieved an email mid November about my acceptance. For some reason, my email thought it was spam. Be sure to check your spam. I got my letter with merit info about a week later.
