For the TI-84 plus calculator, can it calculate derivatives? If so, how do you do it? For example, if I wanted to calculate the derivative of 8x^2 will it output 16x?

yes it can, its a bit of a hassle though, if you put the equation in the y equals screen, then press 2cnd trace/calc and go to number 6 which is dy/dx it will draw the graph and then write the derivative.

Its much easier/quicker on the ti89, which is a much better calculator imo.

by quicker I mean quicker to type, dunno if its faster or not at actually calculating it.

TI-84s won't do indefinite derivatives, only numerical ones

A quicker version of Prism 123's advice is you press MATH and then 8, you get nDeriv(
Then type: 8x^2, x, 2) (if you need the derivative at two, for ex.)

There are websites that will do indefinite derivatives and integrals, too

lol get a TI-89 noob.
