How big are the average freshmen classes?
Also, is the management department any good? Easy/hard?
Are the travel abroad opportunities good?

In first year, you will be taking courses in Arts and Sciences: Math, Econ, English etc. , as is the norm at all undergraduate business schools. Those classes can be smallish: 20-30 students in English and language courses to large: 300 students in Econ for example. Management classes per se range from 100 in intro courses to 25-30 or so in upper level courses.

Management education can be challenging. They require calculus and linear algebra for a reason. For example, finance majors think they will be learning how to work on Wall Street and make millions. They don’t realize that after the introductory course, finance courses are heavily mathematical. If you can handle the math, you will have no problem. International business requires foreign language skills and cultural studies in other departments outside of the management faculty. There is also a lot of group work. Look through the Desautels website and see the incredible range of majors and concentrations offered.

When I’d talk to Science and Engineering students, I could not imagine myself doing that type of coursework. Then again those fields weren’t my specialty. On the other hand, Science and Engineering students may not know how to detect a Ponzi scheme to save their lives (or portfolios).
