Describe the schedule at your school

Well, our high school is considering changing the way our schedule runs. We run a traditional schedule with the same 9 periods every day. We have extra period science labs once a week, twice if AP. There are three different lunch periods. Schools around us run a variety of schedules, and one school has all the kids eat lunch at the same time. I was just wondering what other CC'ers' schedules are like and what they think of them.

We have six classes every day, and two different lunches.

We have six periods every day in addition to 5 lunches. (each with ~600 people)

^ wow, i didn't know your HS had that many people :P

Our schedule runs from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm and passing time lasts 5 minutes between each of the six classes.

We have 3 periods a day. Each about 2 hours. We have 1 lunch and 1 nutrition (each with ~3000 people)

We have 4 x 4 block schedule.

"Blue" days (more commonly "Even" days)
Period 0: 6:45-7:45 (I have this but we start at 7 instead.)
Period 2: 7:55-9:25
Nutrition: 9:25-9:35
Period 4: 9:42-11:15
Lunch: 11:15-11:45 (same lunch for everyone, ~4,000 people)
Period 6: 11:52-1:22
Period 8: 1:29-2:59

"Gold" days (more commonly known as "Odd" days)
Same times, just periods 1, 3, 5 & 7. 0 Period is every day.

I LOVE IT. I loooove having block schedule. I don't know what I'd do if we were on traditional.

That's not that many. We have three schools on one campus with a combined 6000 people.

^^ Lol that's why I love our school :]. So many people to choose from.

I wish we had block schedules though. Or an optional zero or 7th period.

We have 9 periods a day even though we run on a block schedule. Most classes are 2 periods each, except for lunches and performing ensembles, which are 1 period. We have 3 different lunch periods (5,6,7). We run on a 4-day cycle, and all classes meet every other day except for sciences and gym. Science classes are 3 days out of 4 and gym is 1 out of 4.

I thought about this earlier, and I really think we chould have one. Unfortunately, there's no way the school board would approve it.

I actually helped decide on a new schedule for this year at my hs.

Before it used to be a 7 perod day with an optional 0 period and 3 lunches. Now it's a drop and rotate model with 8 courses total but 6 periods a day and an hour common lunch when many club meetings and science labs are held. Now, students are highly encouraged to take a study to help them develop "good study skills".

We have 7 periods a day, six classes, for Monday, Tuesday and Friday. First half of fourth period is Junior lunch (mine, at 10:20-wayyyy to early to eat lunch) and second half is senior lunch, then first half of fifth is sophomore lunch and second half is freshmen lunch. On Wednesday and Thursday we have double blocks-so two classes in the morning for twice as long, then lunch then advisory (for juniors and sophomores) and advisory then lunch (for seniors and freshmen) and then another double block, and that's it. School goes from 7:30-2:08, except about every third Tuesday we get a late start.

We have a block schedule (4 periods a day) with two lunches each with around 1300 kids.
We have 8 periods, most kids have one period off as a free period/ early realease from school or late arrival to school.

We have block scheduling with 4 periods a day, switching classes midyear for a total of 8 classes a year. Then there are three lunches that occur during third block (A, B, and C). Last year we had A/B scheduling that some here have previously called block, with "Blue" and "Gray" days.

I like only having 4 classes to worry about, but sometimes I wish that I had my AP classes year-round so that I could learn more and be more prepared for the exam. It's easier if you'd like to double up on a single subject in one year without having to worry about prereqs (ex. taking Pre-Calc 1st semester and Calc 2nd semester). It also works wonders for all of the slacker seniors that need to squeeze in classes at the last minute.

I feel so odd being non-block-scheduled.

Classes from 8:08 (stupid time) to 3:28 (more like 3:35 for most teachers, though), 9 periods a day (40 minutes each), plus 4-minute breaks inbetween classes and half an hour in the middle of the day for clubs to meet. Traditionally, 7th-9th graders have lunch 4th period and 10-12th have 5th period, but it's not uncommon to have a double or triple lunch period, especially when you're older.

We have a modified block schedule. All 6-7 periods on Monday, 1,3,5 on Tues and Thurs, 2,4,6 on Wed and Fri. I love my school's schedule. <3

^We had that last year, I absolutely detested it. I know a lot of kids who liked it though. I much prefer the regular 4 x 4 block.

I have block scheduling aand we seperate the days by day 1 (aka odd) and day 2 (aka even).
Our day 1 is periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 and our day 2 is 2, 4, 5, and 6.

8 periods a day
lunch 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th period
all sciences classes are double periods every other day (alternate with gym)

Period 1: 8:00am-8:48am
Period 2: 8:52am-9:40am
Chapel (Or Eucharist/ Assembly on shortend periods)
Period 3: 10:05am- 10:53am
Period 4:10:57am- 11:45am
---> 7th/8th/9th grade lunch starts at the beg and ends 11:25ish
---> 10th/11th/12th grade lunch starts 11:45 ends at 12:14
Period 5: 12:18pm- 1:06pm
Period 6: 1:10pm-1:58pm
Period 7: 2:02pm- 2:50pm

Period 5,6, and 7 rotate every week (week A, week B, week C). I hate this schedule . Last year we had all the periods straight through the day, with chapel at the end. But the school didn't like students checking out for chapel or missing their last periods for sports so they started rotating it. Senior Open period is either 1st or 7th, meaning two out of the three weeks I'm stuck at school during my open.
