Descriptions of projects as additional information?

Hi CC,
I'm applying EA and considering making a one page PDF file of two projects I worked on.
For one, I will describe a robot I worked on and the improvements I made over the years.
For the other one, it is a project I made for my grandmother and I will describe the components and the purpose of the project.

All the descriptions will be in bullet-points and to the point. I'm wondering should I make a pdf to show my projects to college admissions, including other colleges in commonapp?

Thanks!

I think those two PDF pages are worth sending in! :)

Our new maker supplement is probably the best venue for this, actually.

^ this is awesome!

Hi MITChris,
Just wondering, “The Maker Portfolio is a description of one project”
Do I have to choose only one project to write about? I want to write about both because they are both heavily emphasized in my essays.

Thanks again!

There are more instructions and explanations within slideroom but we prefer you to make a strong case based on one project.

Hi MITChris (again),
I’m almost finished with the maker portfolio but I only used 3 pictures for the main project (enough to describe the components, example etc). Can I use the 4th picture for the robot I’m mentioning in the optional section?

Thanks!

On a related note, what should we focus on for the last section of the application-the additional information for things that don’t fit anywhere else? Should I list all of the clubs and extracurriculars that I couldn’t fit into the five spots given, or should it be more about my personality and what I enjoy doing? Or should I treat it as a place to focus on a handful of extracurricular projects like science fairs?

Thanks!

^There’s no rule for what you should or shouldn’t put in that space – it’s just intended to be a box for you to fill (or not fill, if you want) with anything else you’d like the admissions office to see. What would be best to put in that space will not be the same for everyone.

Great, thanks Mollie!

I have made research papers in Math and would like to send them. Is that permitted?

Try Chris’s link. It includes research paper information.
