Michigan is my top school, and I’m wondering if anyone has some info on the Theatre Design and Production program? I figured it would be better to ask on the MT thread rather than the general UMich thread, because at least D&P and MT are both in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance!
If anyone knows, is the program just as tough as performance to get into, or generally less so because of lower demand? I’m most concerned about the academic pre-screen, with only a 3.65 GPA and 30 on my ACT (maybe that’s decent for someone applying to SMTD as opposed to Ross or something though). I’ve been involved with theatre tech since 6th grade, with lots of experience in school shows as well as local theatre that my mom does. I’m part of an elite group of tech at the school that works on everything from small choir and band concerts to professional dance shows in our auditorium (and I get paid for the non-school sponsored events). I’ve also crew-head many shows and am going to be the Assistant Technical Director for this year’s musical.

Think I have a shot?
