Desperate Senior: chance at School of Engineering?

Hi, I'm a senior now and I want to see where i can get with my high school profile. Penn has been my dream school, and I'm planning to apply Penn for Early Decision if* it's not too reach for me.
I go to a private international school, and am an us citizen. (ethnicity: asian)

unweighted GPA: 3.68 (94=A system. Hope this can cover my low gpa a bit)
SAT I: Going to take in Oct. and Nov, but aiming for 2200.
SAT II: Chem 740, Math IIC 750, Bio-M 740

11th grade:
AP Chem (not came out yet)
AP Euro ("")

12th Grade:
AP Cal AB
AP Stats
AP Psychology
AP Art

Other courses:
Took Chinese I & II, Web Design 2 (highest computer course), art for every year, etc...
My gpa isn't good, but my junior year had the highest GPA out of all years, and going to try to do the same in senior year.

EC's:
UNICEF trip to Mongolia, intern/community service at a dental hospital to help illegal immigrants, another com. service at a hospital, varsity tennis team, Chemistry Society president (just at school), Chinese Club vice president (we make chinese magazines for the school), Economics Club (made newspapers and other report papers: worked as a editor/designer), National Art Honor Society, etc..(cant think of any other yet)

Awards: I dont have alot. I just have Honoral Certificates (GPA thing) for every semester, and an art award...

Extra: I'm not going to major in art, but i'm going to send a portfolio to show my ability/interest in art.
And I think i'm going to have one great recommendation (of two), and have great app. essays ready for penn.

I need to know if Penn is way off for early decision to me.
Please be honest, but don't be so brutal :)

good thing youre desperate, cuz so is SEAS.

Just go for it. What's the worst that can happen?

LMAO----you serious?

...anymore opinions?

bump..........

Your GPA is borderline too low, especially for an Asian (sorry, but true). Luckily you're applying to one of the less selective schools, but I do think GPA is a pretty big factor. I know someone who applied early to engineering last year with great scores, research experience, etc, but had a similar GPA to yours and was flat out rejected, which is pretty rough for ED. And the smaller A range isn't going to help..it's not that unusual. I think you have an average chance..like 20%. If you really want to go to Penn, definitely apply ED.

I'm serious. You wanna go to Penn. Just apply. What's the worst that can happen? It's not like you're gonna die or anything...

or turn into a husky brown kid

;)

Engineering at Penn has strange results.

I know a kid who was flat out rejected (ED) but admitted to MIT EA, which means Penn considered him in the bottom 20% of their applicants, and MIT considered him to be in the the top 10% of their applicants.
Quite a disparity.

^Application essays and the schools look for different things.

And I hate you Meng. Go back to your fake Canadian girlfriend.

..............wah.

bff venkat, bff

you can do it victorious manic (only because I have to say something redeeming on this forum once in a while)

Venkat, you didn't really assess his chances...

OP, I think you could def benefit from ED. If you were to score in the 2300s and were in like top 3% of your class, I'd say you'd have a good shot. If you get low 2200s/high 2100s you might still have a chance but a deferral is probs more likely

I didn't assess his chances because these threads are BS to the MAX. At this level, college admissions is random. I don't have the child's school profile, his essays, his teacher recs, his family profile, or any of that crap. These numbers mean nothing without them (as seem from the 2400 4.0s rejected from all the Ivies).

Meng, what are you talking about bff? She's your bff now? Who says bff????

i'm not asking all you to be fortune tellers,
i just need relative chances.
And that is why i wrote only the important
factors of my profile.
but thx all i'll just work on my SAT.
