So I go to university of Missouri studying industrial engineering. My first two years here were good but after that everything is going downhill. I tried everything to not get depressed and I barely have friends here and it's so boring! I can't do anything fun without someone to enjoy with. A lot if factors are making me hate it here. Can't think of everything right now but I want to transfer! And all the phases I go through from depression is affecting my studies so much! My GPA is 2.0 or 2.1 I know it's so bad. But I want to transfer anywhere in the east coast. I don't care if I have to take extra classes so I can get accepted as a transfer. I prefer the Dc area or somewhere close to there. I would want to go a bit north like Boston or New York but living expense over there is ridiculously high. I'm just trying to enjoy my years as a college student and do good. I can't do well if I'm not living happy. I seriously hate it here. I hate when people ask me how's school and Columbia (where I am). So please can anyone help me or direct me somewhere? I'm trying to do something about my situation and this is one of the things I'm trying.

With a 2.0, you aren’t going to be able to transfer anywhere other than a community college, but I think you already know that. And unless your family has enough money to pay for your education in the places where you believe that you would be happier about living, or you have job skills that will make it possible to support yourself in those locations, moving isn’t going to happen just yet either.

You need to get yourself into the counseling center on campus, and get help with your depression first before you do anything else. Don’t worry about telling them how much you dislike your university and your major and anything else. They hear this kind of stuff all the time from students. Their job is to help you get your life sorted out so you can decide what your best options are.

You need to figure out why you are doing so poorly before you get dismissed. A question which you need to ask yourself is whether you really are convinced that a degree in Industrial Engineering is what you want. If you decide yes, then it is only 2 more years and then you can look for a job in a location which suits you better. If no, then a change of major may be appropriate or maybe a leave of absence to sort out what your really want to do. If you take some time off to work, you might decide that finishing school is a good idea and you will then be more enthusiastic and do much better.
