I have got a stupid but urgent question: do most colleges send out likely letters or early writes to international students? or do they only send to american-borns and internationals who currently live in US? thx.

Most schools don't.

I read on the forums that Columbia and Yale do sent out likelies to internationals.

Correct me if I am wrong, but most schools don't send early hint type of letters to the vast majority of their applicants.

No, you're right.

Early writes or acceptances are usually sent to student who are in the top 5-10% of the applicant pool (the 'definitely admit' group).
So just because you didn't get an early write doesn't mean that you are rejected.
and as b@rium said, MOST colleges do not send early writes to any type of applicant, whether it be US or international....

dartmouth says they send out likely letters to internationals, but it seems that no one on cc has received one...
