I just took a practice test in the Blue Book and I'm a bit frustrated with their ranged scoring. I know it's used in order to account for the ... but how can I know if I improved from my real SAT test?

In June I got 570 Math, 580 Writing, 690 Critical reading.

Math: 36 Right, 14 Wrong, 4 ommitted
Critical Reading: 58 Right, 9 wrong, 0 ommitted
Writing: 38 right, 11 Wrong, 0 ommited - 7 essay.

I only started preparing for SATs again around mid-August and just today I took the practice test #8.

I got:
620 - 680 in Math (45 right, 8 wrong, 1 ommitted)
610 - 670 in Critical Reading (54 right 13 wrong) (Obviously a drop here)
630 - 770 in Writing (41 right, 8 wrong, 1 ommitted) Dchow gave my essay a 4 on a 1-6 scale.

So what do you guys think? Is it a big improvement? I assume it was a drop in Critical reading, which is understandable since this month I completely skipped practicing it. Slight improvement in Writing and bigger improvement in Math? Is it OK to take the average/median of this score range as your real score? Or is that still not accurate?
