Is being a diabetic or a student with a health complication a hook in your app?

Are you trying to get sympathy points for having diabetes or something from the Adcoms.

Why would it be. Unless it factors into an accomplishment that you did or a major hurdle to overcome, then it won't help. There isn't affirmative action for diseases.

But, maybe work it into a small point in one of your essays. If it is a major part of your life, it should be included in your selling points. On its own merits (oxymoron), however, it probably won't help.

My college age child with diabetes was diagnosed in elementary school. Don't think it will be a hook for college unless perhaps you raise significant funds for diabetes,
mentor/babysit younger children with diabetes, have gone to Washington DC to lobby for stem cell research, etc. On the other hand, having diabetes might've made you
a more determined individual whose focus is on achieving your goals and objectives despite any obstacles placed in your way. Just my thoughts.

I personally dont have diabetes. I was just wondering whether a person who has diabetes or any other health condition would be favored over a non-diabetic.

i have it and decided to write an essay about it. it really says a great deal about who i am.

bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
