Dickinson Applicants

yeah my letter said the same thing. 34 is a pretty large number. And the trend seems to indicate that there will be an even greater no of waitlist admits. I hope they accepts me and everyone on this thread :)

And for admitted students - dickinson is not a good place. Don't go there!!! :):):):):)

Dickinson told me they did not accept anyone from the waitlist last year. Either I misread the information or Dickinson contradicted themselves.
Anyway, I hope that 34 is the right number. It is much better than 0. Good luck everyone !

Let the wait-list sucking up begin...

Anyone knows how many applicants are placed on the wait list?

nope - but there seem to be many.

Dickinson did accept international waitlisted candidates last year because I remember a girl from my city was waitlisted and then finally accepted into Dickinson.

I can't believe less than 11% of the applicants were accepted!... sucks!..

11% enrolled; over 35% accepted.

only around 11% of the RD applicants were accepted... I think thats what they meant. :)

yeah that's what I meant!.. thanks kate :d

For all you waitlisted students-my S applied RD and was initially accepted last year for admission in January '07, rather than fall '06 (they had some limited spaces for January admission-like Colby does-because of the number of students who were projected to study abroad). I understand that the number of students offered this option was quite limited. He was also asked if he wanted a place on the waitlist in case any fall spaces opened up. He said OK to January and also to staying on the waitlist. He also contacted the Admissions Ofiice and let them know that if there was any possibility of getting off the waitlist for fall admission, he would love to go there. Dickinson was his first choice. He ended up getting off the waitlist and started last fall. I'm not sure if there is a January admit program this year or not. If there is, I would suspect that those students (if interested) may be offered spots off the WL first, since they were already offered a spot (albeit delayed). If any of you are in that boat, and really want to go to Dickinson, you may want to let them know how you feel. Of course, since the number of applications appear to be up from last year, I am not sure if they decided to implement a January admission program or not for this year.

According to their website, for last year's class Dickinson received 5298 applications, accepted 43% or 2278 and ended up with 618 freshmen. Assuming that they received 5800 this year (if Backtothestars is correct) and want to end up with 618 freshman again, unless the admissions folks believe that a higher or lower percentage of accepted students will accept their offer compared to last year, they would have accepted between 39% and 40% of applicants to get 2278 accepted applicants. It looks like their applications rose a bit less than 10% this year. Tougher to get in than last year and definitely a record, but not down to 11% of applicants. Congrats to those who were accepted.

Not only you.. I got waitlisted too, and I though with my scores it would be easy to get in. Stupid me :)

As with any school, if you are on the waitlist and really want to go to a school, it does not hurt to let them know.
By the way, for those of you who are going, I would recommend that when you pick your freshman seminar, you try to select a seminar where you are in a living/learning community.

And congratulations to all who got in-hope you decide to go-from what we've seen so far, it is a terrific place :)

hey scissor-shaped, I got wait-listed and thought Dickinson was a pretty safe bet for me too...
I keep seeing the term "crap-shoot" on the postboards, apparently that is all too true. lol.

Congratulations to everyone admitted!
Good luck to everyone still waiting!

ana_station ~

Congrats on getting wait-listed as well haha :)))
What is "crap-shoot"? Sorry, I'm non-native and slang words get me confused sometimes :) Where else did you apply?

My S was given a January admit this year. He's likely to decline.

May i please make a request? To those students who do not wish to be selected off the waitlisted and those who do not wish to join dickinson - could you please let the admissions office know ASAP so that waitlisted students like me who REALLY want to join can find out earlier if space is available?

scissor-shaped-

lol. sorry, "crap-shoot" means its all random and up to chance.

I applied to alot of schools...I kind of got nervous after I got deferred ED from Swarthmore. So the final list is: Amherst, Bard, Brown, Dickinson, Geneseo, Haverford, Lafayette, Macalester, Oberlin, Reed, Skidmore, Swarthmore, Tufts, UPenn, and Vassar.

I got in to Macalester, Lafayette, and Geneseo. Waitlisted at Dickinson, and I'm still waiting to hear from the rest of them.

Where are you from? Where else did you apply?
