Dickinson College or F&M Transfer (Also question on grants)

Hello!

This is my first post, so I am probably doing something that will reveal me to be a newb. If so, I apologize.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me understand my chances of getting into either Dickinson College, or F&M as an out of state college transfer.

I have been going to community college for a few years now, when I first started I got a few C's so it lowered my gpa a bit. I also got one F in my first semester (it was a weird class on "exceptional children" and I messed up because it was online and I messed up submitting a paper). I also have one W from a human anatomy class, because at first I was going to major in nursing. My cumulative GPA is 3.0, but the last 3 semesters at my current college I have gotten 3.6.

I have gotten all A's in my classes pertaining to my major (which is English). I have taken 5 English classes total.

I was a little active in high school. I won an essay writing contest and went to a leadership conference, I won a poetry contest, did some volunteering, and I also helped my community college's literary magazine and got published in the literary mag for writing a haiku in Japanese.

I also took all AP English classes in high school.

I was just wondering what the chances are of me getting into either of these schools transferring from California. Additionally, I went on collegeboard.com and they did a net calculation of my expected grants and the amount of grants I am supposed to get is quite high. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with the accuracy of the net price calculator on collegeboard, or if it is just lying to me. Haha.

Also, I didn't take the SAT's or ACT's because I went straight to CC. I did pass the AP English test with a 3, though.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
(again, apologize if I posted in the wrong place or formatted this wrong)

i would suggest get into a TAP program at a California CC and transfer into a University of California school their much better. Dickinson and F&M are very similar and you could go to a uni in cali and pay much less and get a way better education. if you go the money i would suggest go ahead and apply but if you don’t want to be in a lot of debt after you grad, your gonna want to hit up the public uni’s in cali

Well, one reason I chose to apply to the schools is because according to the net calculator they will essentially give me a free ride. There could have been some glitch though. Lol. It will pretty much come down to that in terms of choice. My expected contribution from family is 0.

If I don’t get accepted though, or if it costs me an arm and a leg I will definitely go the UC route. I absolutely love Davis. Berkeley isn’t bad either.

both of these schools don’t give much FA to transfer students unfortunately
