Did 3 years of French in middle school, and now in AP

Hello all,

I’ve found myself in quite a strange predicament going forward in high school. I did a total of 10 years of French, and 3 years of Spanish before high school. I have 6 credits in French (8 by the end of the year because of AP), and by the end of freshman year, I’m technically going to be finished with world language. Moving forward, I have no clue what I should do. Should I not continue with world language anymore, or should I take classes like IB Spanish B SL?

Thanks!

Do you want to improve your Spanish skills? If so, you can take Spanish courses of the appropriate level based on what you currently know.

If you finish with AP, then you are done with what you need for college.
But I would be apparent that you like learning languages? If so, continue with whatever language you might like.

You can 1) seek out more advanced French classes, either offered by a nearby university (depending on the university it could be 4th or 5th semester level). This way by taking one class a year you continue practicing and improving, showing mastery and consistency. Or 2) start a new language, such as Spanish IB SL, or another language Ab initio.

We’re you living in a French speaking country or in Canada? Attending a French language or immersion school?
