It has a chart showing the importance of various admissons factors- SAT, grades, interviews, recommendation letters, etc. etc., for about 80 top colleges. Can't find it online any more, and I'm hoping someone has a copy somewhere they can post it here.

Do you have any more info such as author or about when it was published?

It was from last spring's Education Life supplement in the Sunday Times.....Not sure of the date, but wouldn't archives have it? Wasn't it in the form of a chart?

I've never read or heard of the article but shouldn't the title be "Quid Pro Quo"?

That's certainly how we know the phrase, but I don't think word order matters in Latin.

^Yes, it does. Up with this I will not put.

My bad re: the order of the phrase. My son took Latin, not me! I think it was published 2-3 years ago, because I used it when helpimg my son research schools. He graduated in 2006, so it must have been published in 2005 or before.

Rodney, it was in the form of a chart- maybe I can't find it in the archives because of my Latin phrase snafu [ blush!]. If you can find it can you copy a link?

A wonderful CC parent corrected me on the real title of the NY Times article- [boy did I ever mangle it! I really am embarrassed now!] It's called Admissions Sine Qua Non, and I am pasting a link here, because I think it continues to be an invaluable sourse of information for students and parents interested in the colleges listed, who wonder if interviews are important, do school visits count, how important are recommendations, alumni relations, etc. etc. http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2006/01/08/education/edlife/data.1.graphic.html

I can tell you that it's not the January 16, 2005 copy of Education Life, because I have that one, but it might be the April 24, 2005 (the cover is a box of cereal and it says "The New SAT"). I may have that copy and some other ones, but I would have to look through my papers. I usually keep copies of Education Life to refer to if need be. If I find it, I'll post the info. If not, then perhaps it can be found under the NY Times archives.

NYUmom,
thanks! but I found it ^and copied a link above, so others can use it!

The date would be january 8, 2006

Here is the thread from when Marite first posted about the article

here is the link to the rest of the articles (chart is in the Data Section)
