did anyone get a ucsb email yet?

<p>Yup, I got mine working. You just have to wait anywhere from 1 to 10 days after your SIR is confirmed apparently =) .</p>

<p>Oh, I just kept trying about twice a day. I wasn't as anxious as some I guess because I forgot about UMail while I was making sure that I finished my housing and summer start info =P.</p>

<p>depending on when you sent in your SIR, your account will be activated within 10 days... (i don't recall if i got an email, and i can't find it in my files, so i guess it just 'happens')</p>

<p>then, you can go to <a href="http://www.umail.ucsb.edu%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.umail.ucsb.edu&lt;/a> where you click on identity. enter in your perm #, ssn, birthdate, etc. and you will be able to choose a ucsbnetid (it is the same as your umail, for your umail it will be "<a href="mailto:ucsbnetid@umail.ucsb.edu">ucsbnetid@umail.ucsb.edu</a>"). then you get to choose a pw, etc... and viola, it should be created.</p>

<p>click on web access to login and see your new email account.</p>

<p>if for some reason, they keep telling you that they can't locate you as a student that means your acct hasn't been activated. call them if it's been more than 10 days since you sent in your SIR.</p>

<p>i think that should do it.</p>

<p>weird, it has been 10 days. I sent mine in on the last day possible, May 1st... so i guess that might be why. has anyone else not been able to activate it yet? When it finally works i will be so happy haha... the first thing i will do is facebook haha.</p>

<p>myname1sjude....I set up my facebook right away too, haha, although I feel dumb being a high school kid on facebook. But only a high school kid for two more weeks!</p>

<p>Quite a few people have set up facebooks already if they knew about it :). I think its around 20-40 per school now, at least for the Bay Area schools that I'm familiar with.</p>
