DD received an email from AU asking if she’s confirmed admission at another school… Hadn’t seen that from any other school. Did anyone else get this email?
We got it, too. Thought it was a bit odd. My guess is that they are about to start culling through the RD apps and just want to know if there are any they can disregard before wasting their time reviewing them.
Did either of you get a message in the past week or so about selecting a college and what to do if you’re wait-listed? I’m thinking that’s a bad sign; it had a different tone. One person said they did not get the wait-list message, but received the earlier email re. informing AU if you’re going elsewhere. If you didn’t get the email re deciding/wait-lists, have you been receiving other general advice messages all along e.g. on senioritis? Trying to determine if there are various lists from the start or if they’re just starting to tailor things based on who is getting admitted or not. Thanks!
My sister has been getting those emails from AU and she did not apply to AU or even look at AU! Seems to be a general thing. Weird!
@Westcoaster2018, I received the “let us know your plans” email but not the one about what to do if waitlisted. The only other emails I received are about Preview Days (several of these), emails about interviews in my area (a couple of these), and an email saying my application was complete. I don’t see any pattern here. If anything, your receipt of the colleges/waitlist email and the senioritis email (neither of which did I receive) suggests that AU is being more communicative with you, which may be a good sign!
This is AU trying to protect their yield. They don’t want to extend an offer to someone who has already accepted another offer.
