FWIW, USC is definitely making a push to attract applicants from the Northeast. My son and some of his friends have be inundated with emails and printed materials from USC. Intrigued me enough to take a look here for some feedback. My wife is deeply infected with Northeast Elitism, so I suspect she will kibosh any discussion of schools below the Mason-Dixon Line, but you never know…
I know lots of kids from the Boston area who are coming down to USC. I guess the grass is always greener.

Not just USC. There’s a strong influx of students from the northern states attending quite a few SC schools including Clemson , Furman, Wofford and College of Charleston . There does seem to be a strong bias against southern schools which is unfortunate. Lots of missed opportunities .
