Did anyone here enter siemens?

i entered this year. i entered last year too and made regionals. we'll see how it goes this year

That's cool, what regional were you at?

I submitted on Tuesday and it supposedly arrived yesterday. I expect to be a semifinalist, but that's it.

bump
10 char

I was going to enter, but my mentor didn't get his forms back to me in time. :-(

maybe try calling siemens and explaining your situation?

Hi Smooth, i entered this year too.
how do you know that you will be a semi-f? Do you know that stats from last year like how many applied vs how many finalists and semi-fs?

I hope I get semi at least. I was told that semi-f even improve my admission chnaces a greta deal.

Semifinalists are announced on the 19th on the website. They estimate 1,200 projects entered, and designate 300 of them semifinalists.

I entered Siemens as well. Can't wait for the 19th!

Do you think semi-finalist would move me up on the college admisison screening process?
Uh! wish me luck

By any chance would you know how many regional finalist will be allowed from this 1200 pool?

Yea, about 60 regional finalist. Apparently they announce both regional finalists and semifinalists on the 19th this year.

Do you know how much boost the applictaion will get with a Regional Finalist award? what colleges are these finalists applying to?

One may hope that Siemens Regional Finalists, like other seniors, will be applying to a nice range of reaches, matches and safeties, including schools that work within the parameters of family finances. There aren't truly any "golden tickets" out there. It probably increases one's odds a little, but one's essays and all the other aspects of one's application are what will make or break.

There were 95 regional finalists -- 30 individual projects and 65 in group projects.

That's how it always is. They announce 300 individual semifinalists and 300 team projects (and each team project has either 2 or 3 members).

In addition to those, they announce 30 individuals and 30 group projects. This year, among those 30 group projects, there were 65 students involved.

Each of those two sets of 30 are split into groups of 5, where they compete at one of the six member universities in the coming weeks for a chance at the national finals.

This year there were 295 TOTAL semifinalists (GROUP + INDIVIDUAL) and 65 TOTAL regional finalists (360 finalists).

sorry 65 team + 30 indivudal regionals so 95

Was it only 295 total? I thought it was 300 for each. Sorry for the miscount on my part.

It's UP TO 300. I thought it was su pposed to be up to 300 total, and out of the semis they pick regionals, but this year it was 295 semis + 95 regionals.

They do not pick the regionals out of the semis. The 95 regional finalists were not included in the 295 semifinalists.

So essentially, they awarded 390 people with recognition, giving the best 95 regional finalist and the remaining 295 semifinalist.

i didn't make it :(
