Did Anyone OR Everyone get this letter?

<p>My son applied for Summer Seminar and did not get in. Today he received a letter saying this:</p>

<p>Congratulations! Based on the application you submitted for the Air Force Academy Summer Seminar we have determined that you have the potential to compete for an appointment at the Air Force Academy.</p>

<p>We thought it was unusual to say “Congratulations!” when he did not really really get into the Summer Session! </p>

<p>Would appreciate comments on similar letters…Should he feel “special” or NOT!</p>

Congratulations! …Although your current app isnt competitive we believe you can make it competitive and they gave me a checklist</p>

<p>Those who go to summer seminar will comprise about a third of the incoming class. There are many who aren’t picked for summer seminar who then successfully compete for an appointment.</p>
