Did anyone receive this UCB e-mail?

political econ

it seems like i never get any emails from anyone. :(, well except usc. but i want ucla and ucb not usc!

I didn’t get the R&C email, but I’ve been getting a bunch about the budget cuts and stuff. I’m pretty sure it’s because I signed up for that picture yourself at Berkeley thing, because I haven’t even applied yet.

Has anyone receiving emails ever given the schools their email addresses anywhere other than on their apps?

nope, just on the app.

BigJohn1, anthropology.

It’s not the consider yourself at berkeley because I have an account on that too and havent gotten any.

Dang you Emil! Now I’m paranoid! :(

Peace and Conflict Studies major here, if I get in. :)

Haha actually SFwarrior I thought about that. I did sign up for the “Picture Yourself at Berkeley” thing. I did (I think) list my e-mail there.

But then again, corinnejay just refuted that possibility.

lol what do the e-mails mean?! AHHH. Maybe they admitted me and accidentally are sending me e-mails early? Maybe I’m just randomly getting e-mails? Maybe they rejected me and this is some sick mistake…lmao if that were the case let’s just say that next year on here I would condemn all e-mails received like the ones I’ve listed.

emil hahah i think we both need a break from this admissions crap. i think both of us are freaking out the most on these boards.

haha SFwarrior, I would have to agree with you man. Want to take a temporary leave of absence with me? I’ve read alot of your posts on here since you’ve joined, and I actually consider you to be one of our “elite” lol for lack of a better word. You seem to have your **** together.

Btw did you go to the Davis thing today…err I guess yesterday?

haha but yeah man, I’m down for going cold turkey on CC for a while if you are.

I was admitted to UCB last year, and I am currently a student. I received that email myself at my j***@berkeley.edu account. I have not, nor did I ever hear of early decisions being leaked this way from UCB, but I would say that if you have been placed on the “all students” mailing list, that is a good sign!

Good luck to everyone.

@ floobnoobs:…Yes! lol. Thanks for that info.

Funny thing is, its probably within my power to find this out for you. Im a Starting Point Mentor for incoming transfer applicants, and so I have met many of the people within the bureaucracy who make this stuff happen behind the scenes. But I fear that if I went over to admissions with this question, they would stonewall the issue, and then many more people would be SOL for this method.

Interesting fact: Only 5 (FIVE!) people at UCB are cleared to read transfer applications. and the amount of time spent on each application is about 3-5x greater then the Freshman apps.

That’s very interesting. It seems like the process at Berkeley is so much more holistic than the method of all the other UCs which seem like a numbers game purely for transfer as opposed to freshman.

This is an image of the email I received. Note the recipients line…

Good luck!

That is interesting. How long is spent on each application?

They never said exactly.

@ floobnoobs: Wow, I think the Starter Point Mentor program is amazing. I was actually thinking about creating something like that next year. lol but since this already exists, I’ll probably just join. Anyway, I’ll probably join in with your program next year if I get in.

Also, I agree. I wouldn’t want the issue stonewalled. I think that it would be really cool if you could find out about this, but if it is a leak, I wouldn’t want it stopping lol.

Thanks again for all of your help and information.

I am not sure why they are sending these e-mails to applicants.

How do you create a Berkeley email?
