did AP just ruin my life or what...

<p>yea you can call</p>

<p>I personally don't think your scores are bad, but unless your high schools includes them on your transcript, colleges won't know until after they accept you. AP scores are self-reported on the application (unlike SAT or ACT scores), so just put down the subjects you feel comfortable with. You only have to send an official AP score report after you've decided on a college in the spring.</p>

<p>sarorah: The guides say to include a note to explain anything that you feel needs to be explained.. For example, if a parent died, you could include a note explaining why your grades fell off. There is the app form and then attachments such as the resume (and/or activity list) and the essays. Each attachment has your name at the top along with whatever info they want such as social security number, and a short title of what it is. I think it would be a little silly to go too far, but in this case, the OP was self studying chemistry and then took the AP exam. It could be in the essay if the OP describes his/her love of learning or it might be a separate attachment. How much you want to highlight it depends on how bad it is. This isn't very bad.</p>

<p>I remember seeing the idea of the post-it somewhere but can't remember where. It may have been in Michele Hernandez's "Acing the College Application."</p>

<p>Other ideas to get things across is to ask your GC to include it in their recommendation. That doesn't apply here.</p>

I agree, i did bad on ap world history as well. And i didn’t study for it so that was probably the main problem. I got an A in the class and my school is known for being notoriously difficult and ranked in the top 20 in the country so it wasn’t because of grade inflation. I was planning to just withhold the score and fill the other 8 spots with other classes on the common app, so that colleges would think i just didnt have enough space to include any other classes. Would that work?
Im planning to take at least 14 ap classes by the end of senior year.

This thread is more than a decade old.

My D16 got a 3 on her Chem AP and elected not to take the AP exams this year for her senior AP classes. She is going to attend Rice in the fall. You should be fine.

Closing thread. As mentioned, the original post was asked 11 years ago. The original poster is long gone and at this point probably married with a few kids.
