On the UC Common App, there were 2 essay prompts. The essays I wrote went to both colleges (Berkeley and LA) I applied to (obviously). My problem is that in 1 essay, I kinda summarized briefly why I want to go to the schools- I wrote my reasons for attending both schools in the same essay. So what that means is that when the UCLA adcom reads it, they'll be able to see why I want to go to UCLA and why I want to go to Berkeley because both are stated in my essay, and Berkeley's adcom will see both as well. I was wondering if this will hurt me a lot or a little? Or will they understand since it was impossible to modify the essay?

Don't stress it unless you wrote something derogatory about either! They are two very different universities with different things to offer and it would only be natural to consider both -- one will ultimately fit better than the other. The readers will understand.

haha I didn't write anything bad. UCLA is my #1 choice. I am a prospective pre-med student, so I would assume UCLA would be the better fit...especially considering thats what that essay was about (me being in the medical field)

While what you did is obviously not advisable, it's not gonna murder your chances. They'll understand, just like UCLA77 said.

To be honest, it won't hurt your chances at all. I think admissions officers really have a good laugh with the "mistakes" that applicants make as long as they're not realllly bad.
