Did I fill out the FAFSA incorrectly?!

I apologize if this has been asked already.. I just submitted the FAFSA today and got a confirmation email saying that my EFC was 18,247. That is outrageous and must be wrong for two reasons:
1) That is more than half of my dad's income
2) My brother's EFC was 0 last year and nothing has changed

If I filled it out incorrectly can I resubmit it? If so, how do I go about doing that?

If your parents’ income is less than $36,000 , yes, you definitely filled it out incorrectly.

I figured… I don’t know how though. I thought I typed everything correctly and even double checked it. But is there any way to redo it?

You can update your FAFSA at any time, yes. Just log into your account and you can submit corrections.

Try again really quickly using the FAFSA4caster and see where that number gives you. You can also print out the FAFSA calculation and do it again by hand.

I already submitted it and I think I have to wait until it’s processed because it won’t let me update it right now. And I just used a calculator and my EFC was apparently just over 1000 dollars. So there’s definitely something wrong!

Thanks, guys. I’ll check back in a couple days to see if I can update it.

Sounds like you put your dad’s income in the section for your income.

HOw did you see your EFC? I don’t remember seeing mine. Is there a way to view it?

Your Confirmation page after you submitted the FAFSA.

Yes that is where I saw it. And mom2collegekids, that is very possible. I will check it when I can.
