So i just submitted my FAFSA and got an email about my EFC...its 99999. This simply cannot be, my dad makes about 80 k and my mom doesn't work, i have a sister (9th grade). We don't have money in properties or the stock market or anything like that so what gives?

I'm thinking my dad made a mistake on the fafsa. If we assume thats true what do I do now????

I can't make any changes till the give me back and SAR but 2 of my colleges have a deadline on 2/1.

Please tell me what I should do!

Sounds like your dad put an extra 0 in somewhere. Look at where he put his income, did he put $800,000?

Usually when there’s a mistake of a “too high” EFC, it’s because the parent income was put in the student section. However, if that had happened, your EFC still wouldn’t be that high.

While you may not be able to correct anything yet, can you pull up what was submitted and look it over?

I don’t think you’ll have a problem with the two schools. You did submit it. Fixing it later won’t mean that you missed the deadline.

Since it sounds like your FAFSA inputs are rather simple (one income, not a bunch of assets), it shouldn’t take long to find the glaring error.

SAR came out day 3 for us so you can make changes by Thursday jan 31.
