Did I get a wink letter?

<p>I am applying as a freshman for the class of 2010. I received a letter from Oberlin History Department saying how I indicated I am interested in history, and I could studying all kinds of history in various ways. The last sentence was "We look forward to welcoming you to Oberlin." It was from the chairman of the department. Was this a wink letter? I thought it was.</p>

<p>I got one from the english department. Hmmm... I never considered that it might be a wink letter. But now I want to know</p>

<p>I got one from the Coordinator of Health Professions, detailing their pre-medical program. It doesn't seem to promise anything, but the paper does have a watermark and it looks on the bottom like it might be hand signed, as opposed to printed, although I can't decide if that's just a ploy.</p>

<p>I suppose we'd have to compare stats to decide if they were letters hinting at admission or not. I'm not showing mine first, though, he he...</p>

<p>In looking at mine again, it seems to have been hand signed.</p>

<p>I got two. One from the assistant director of admissions and the dean of the college of arts and sciences(both were hand-signed). The letters just told me about the opportunities at Oberlin blah, blah, nothing really special. I bet you guys got the letters too. I guess thats cool since Oberlin is one of my top choices. My best friend got accepted under early decision and is excited to go.</p>

<p>I'm not too sure its a wink letter. I got that letter when Oberlin was first sending me information...sorry to bum you out, I honestly don't mean to. But it sure is nice to hope for early conformation... best of luck to you</p>

<p>I'm gonna say they're not wink letters because I have gotten 4 in the past week and apparently so has everyone else.</p>
