I was scrolling through some really old forums here on collegeconfidential and I found this UCSD link that said if it redirected to your first choice college, then it meant you were accepted.

I logged in with my number without really reading anything, and then the UCSD website told me I hadn't been allowed to use that website because it was meant for accepted freshman and their parents and I was still pending. They told me they had recorded my ID number and would report it to the office.

Does this hurt my chances of getting accepted two days from the day we're supposed to hear back?
It was an honest mistake, and I didn't realize it was prohibited to use that site.

Wait…sorry happilee I can’t answer your question but I have a question of my own. Am I allowed to log in that website if I already got the call saying that I was accepted? Because to be honest, I completely forgot which of the six schools of UCSD I indicated were my choices when I applied via the UC application and so I have no idea which UCSD school I was accepted to…

I hope they wouldn’t reverse an admission decision for something like that. That would be totally dumb. I think you’re fine.

I unfortunately found that link when I applied last year and did exactly what you did. I was so worried that I called admissions the next day and spoke on the phone with a lady and asked her what you’re asking now. She said that she didn’t know if it would affect my decision or not, but she did say that I shouldn’t have entered my information on there as there were explicit warnings for me not to. I ended up being rejected from ucsd but got into every other school so oh well.

Happilee, this is a website I used (as a parent) last year to register for a parent-student orientation program that occurs during the summer for my older son. Its only to register for an orientation program that parents/student go to after the student commit to UCSD. I don’t think attempting to log into the parent-student orientation website would influence the admissions committee decision. I don’ remember if this website had any information about the specific college or major, it was more to register for an orientation program.

@Korean101 if you go to your UC application, your ranked colleges should be there? As for which one you were accepted to, I don’t really know, I’m sorry :(

Thank you to everyone for your responses!

Korean101, way to hijack the thread, lol. Why don’t you log into your UC account and see what it says under there?

And I think you should be fine! It would be awfully silly of the admissions office to reverse a decision solely based on you visiting a webpage you weren’t quite supposed to. I just visited that page and it only says NOTICE: Misuse of this university website is prohibited at the bottom, so I’m guessing they’re referring more to someone trying to access another person’s account information or something. If you used your own ID and left the site right after, then even if they /were/ tracking you, they’d realize that you weren’t trying to cause any trouble. And if anyone really does call and ask, you can just tell them it was an honest mistake, because it was.

Good luck!
