Did I ruin my application? (College Match)

For my second essay, I chose to write about my experience with acting as a child, and how it allowed me to follow set parameters while still being an individual. After reviewing it what must have been ten-thousand times, I decided that I liked it, and I submitted my application tonight.

Just a few minutes ago, my mother came in and insisted that I had just squandered every chance I ever had at being matched. Why? Because I wrote about acting, and that may make the admissions officers thing that we're secretly rich and just hiding our wealth.

I really do come from a lower-income family. Even when I was on a television show, we struggled to make our payments every month because most of my money went into hotel rooms and travel expenses. The Questbridge officers, however, don't know that, and I can't help but feel like I ruined my application.

What do you all think?

You didn’t ruin it. If you submitted find coal numbers they have no reason to believe you are hiding something. Number don’t lie.

I think it will be fine. It is an interesting topic, and probably will make you stand out in the mind of the admissions officers. Your mom is nervous, but I think people know that not all acting jobs pay super well, and anything you did as a child could be money long gone anyway. Your mom is just nervous (can’t tell you how many parents out here have freaked out over WHATEVER in their kid’s application, and it comes out fine in the end). If you don’t make it, it won’t be for this reason!

Thank you all so much! I’m probably just letting nerves get to me.

YOU DIDN"T RUIN. WHAT THe hell is wrong with acting in tv???
but can’t blame your mom. So many rich AND untalend kids get in tv and waste time.
I put ‘and’ to avoid any possible offense to high-income kids…
