Did I ruin my chances?

Today was the last day of the semester for me and I just received my final grades. My grades were decent except for the dreaded C in AP Calculus AB. My other classes were AP U.S. History, AP Lang, AP Chem, and P.E. Did I ruin my chances of attending Tufts University (My dream school!) with my C in Calc AB? I'm required to take BC next year and will hopefully get an A. Will this help at all? And oh, I'm a junior btw. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you’re majoring in. If something science or business related, yes. Liberal arts like history or literature, no.

I would also think much depends on the rest of your stats and resume. If your test scores and GPA/rank are really strong then it won’t “blemish” your application as much as it would if you are kind of in the middle of the pack.

Thanks…bad thing is my intended major was computer science. I guess that goes down the drain now.

Does anyone else have anymore opinions?

Computer science is REALLY math based… BUT! If you manage to get As in 2nd semester AB AND both semesters BC, then you have a shot.
Good luck!

Any more opinions?

I don’t think one C in one course would be a deal-killer. Your situation will just depend on the rest of the picture, as jshain said above. however, since you have plenty of time, maybe you can research and find a few other schools to apply to that are similar to Tufts in the ways that are important to you?
