Did I Screw Myself Over?

I was wondering if anyone could answer my question. I know most of the selective schools (such as some ivies) are taking the best scores for the SATs of applicants. I was wondering how negatively or positively my test scores will affect me:

New SAT I March: 800cr, 800wr, 690 m for a combined total of 2290.

I decided I wanted a 700 or better in math, so i retook in June.

June: 740 cr, 740 wr, 700 math for a total of 2180 (grrr… stupid essay).

So now I’m wondering, does the 700 math, which would give me a combined 2300 best score, and a 1500 of math+critical reading comparable to the old SAT, overcome the possible negative effects of having a 740 in writing and critical reading as compared to my March 800’s?

that does suck...
if you say on the application 800cr, 800wr, 700m you'd be perfectly fine (as long as that school does take the best scores). You just had a case of bad luck the second time, so it won't against you. Don't worry about it.

Most colleges will look at the highest score per section. Check with specific colleges for their requirements.

It is my understanding that most colleges isolate your best scores and then lump them together so that your cumulative score is the highest total you could get... they seem to give you the benefit of the doubt that if you scored that well there was probably a reason and it wasn't because you simply lucked up... don't worry!
