Hey guys! So my sophomore year, I really slipped and I realize it |: My GPA is still above a 3.0 UW, and 3.6 W. My classes were English H, Algebra 2 H, French 4 H, Chemistry H, AP European History, and PE.
Is is possible to redeem myself my junior year by getting a 4.0? My EC's are really strong, just adding that in...
I'm not aiming for an Ivy, but more towards UC's.
Thanks!(:

The important thing is that you realized that you slipped up. Focus on the things you regretted about your sophmore year. Point yourself in the right direction over summer, and work towards achieving your goals next year. Good luck!

What is your GPA?

To be honest, that GPA will hurt you a lot. I’ve heard that GPA is probably the most important thing to a UC, so for top-tier UCs you’re going to want above a 4.0. Plus, they calculate GPA differently in that only sophomore and junior year count (makes it harder to make up for a bad GPA one year) and only certain honors courses are weighted. If you live in California, go on this website and search your school to see which honors courses are weighted. <a href=“A-G Policy Resource Guide”>A-G Policy Resource Guide; My school doesn’t weight any of my honors courses (English, World History and Algebra 2) so although my weighted GPA in my school’s POV is a 4.3, towards a UC it’s only a 3.8 (got one B). I’m sure you could still try for UCLA and Cal if you do good on the SAT and keep up your ECs, but these schools still might be considered a bit of a reach.

yes … GPA is REALLY important to UCs. Multiple people on the UC results threads with a UC gpa < 3.5 and SAT’s > 2100 got rejected from davis, irvine and even santa cruz.

Remember that UCs don’t consider your freshman year or non a-g courses, so remove those from your calculations and see where you are.

Seriously though, what’s SO bad about sushi?

^ sigh

10char

^ bump!!!

10char

here we go again…

…ugh…

10char

^ um…??

so basically, im screwed.
great. my life just got worse than it already is.

You’re going to be a millionaire one day and think how stupid you were for worrying so much. Don’t be stupid.

How can I be a millionaire if I don’t get into college? How can I get into college if I screwed up? ajshfjahskhf omg. I can’t believe this.
I read somewhere that colleges consider it if they see a significant change in your GPA for the better. What if next year, I work my @$$ off and get a 4.0.

What’s your GPA right now? If you get a 4.0 next year you’ll have a 3.5 if you have 3.0 right now.

Yeah, you never posted your GPA; you only said it was above a 3.0 - which can be either a 3.1 or a 3.6, which the difference between is pretty big.

Wait, what? You’re not screwed over… there’s a big difference between not getting into a UC and not getting in to college. And you are actually guaranteed admission to a UC with a 3.0 or above… plus there are the Cal Polys and other good Cal States… stop worrying, your life is not over.
