So I’m getting ready to send in all my apps, but I’m really stressing out over my board scores, not because of the scores themselves but because I took both the SAT and the ACT 3 different times (for clarification, I took each one 3 times). Now my ACT was a steady increase, starting at a 29, then 31, and finally 33; however my SAT scores all gravitated right above or below 2000 which I feel may be detrimental. So for colleges that I’m applying to like Penn that don’t allow for score choice, will the sheer fact that I took the tests so many times piled on top of the fact that my SATs were pretty bad and never really improved be a major detriment to my application and overall chances of getting in? I know at places like Penn they say that they only look at the highest score, which in my case would be my 33 ACT, but I can’t imagine that they would make you send every score if that were the case. Can anyone confirm or debunk my fears?
Taking 3 times is okay, 4 or more is excessive.
From my understanding, you can delete any ACT scores you don’t want and just keep the 33 to submit.
@Hermit9 so taking 3 times for both is ok you think? Also do you think just submitting the 33 would be better or do you think it would look better to have the steady progression over time?
Generally colleges recommend taking 2-3 times, but no more than that, so you should be fine.
31 and 33 would probably be best, that’s a pretty good jump in itself. If you want to delete your 29 you probably could.
@Hermit9 How can one delete his/her ACT scores?! And is this really acceptable for schools that do not participate in score choice?
