Did my essay get me rejected...?

<p>Ugh. All my teachers tell me I'm great at writing, blah blah blah. But this essay...I don't know. In fact, I got rejected early decision from Columbia, and my finger is pointed at this essay right now. Seriously, I've been rewriting it since May and it still sucks; however, I can't change the topic because I feel I've invested too much time in it. Also, I think the topic potentially is perfect...I just can't execute it well.</p>

<p>Or maybe it's a fine enough essay and I just wasn't good enough for Columbia, lol. Anyway, could someone please take a glance at it? PM me :)</p>

<p>Im sorry to hear that you have been rejected.Well,if you feel that it could have been your essay,maybe its worth revising or reworking it in time for your other apps?Stay +ve and good luck…</p>

<p>Im sorry to hear about your result. You dont necessarily have to blame your essay because often times perfectly qualified candidates just dont fit into the ideal class that ivies are trying to make. I can read it if you would like and tell you my impression. PM me.</p>

<p>From an economists point of view, you can’t hang on to a bad business(or essay) because of time invested. Losses = shut down. </p>

<p>Probably and certainly NO! :stuck_out_tongue: Well I might say that Columbia rejected me because of my unusually long and difficult to spell name! Who knows? :)</p>

<p>Just go look at one of the Stanford threads with posts in the last 24 hours- you’ll see how many with super stats got rejected. It’s sobering.
Yes, your essay could be the issue. Yes, you should be willing to scrap it entirely. Especially, if you think it may be overworked or have vocab overload.</p>
