How am I supposed to know that they received everything they needed from me? Do I just trust the U.S. Postal Service or do I have to call in and ask to check?

I received an e-mail from on Nov. 1 asking me to respond if I wanted to apply Rd rather than EA.

You could call and ask if they've received it; if they haven't, ask what you can do to rectify the situation.

With USPS, you always want to do some sort of delivery confirmation (it's worth the extra $3 or however much it costs) to verify that they've received it.

I called them and the lady who picked up said the following:

"We (Georgetown University) only inform applicants of whether or not Part I of their application arrived".

I, like most other applicants, sent in Part I way earlier so as to get my interview. I received confirmation of this and already had my interview in mid-oct, well before I sent in my essays and the rest of my Gtown EA application.

On Oct. 29, I mailed the rest of my application (the essays, the sheet that asked for a list of ecs etc.). (I had already told my guidance counselor and teachers to send in their recommendations so that was taken care of.)

I called two days ago for verification of whether or not that part (the one I mailed on Oct. 29th arrived at Gtown), and the lady said that Georgetown doesn't send out letter saying that that part arrived.

Instead once the admission committee starts reviewing my application, they will send me a letter if anything is missing.

I don't like that policy but that is what the lady told me. I really wanted confirmation that the part I sent on Oct. 29th arrived there. But oh well.

My d also received the Nov 1 letter. We had overnight mailed her part II on Oct 31 and did confirm it was signed for on Nov 1. Perhaps they sent the Nov 1 letter to any EA candidate who did not have the materials submitted at the end of October.

I am going to suggest that she call admissions to make sure they got the letters of rec, etc. from the school. Can't hurt to check.

I sent in my app like October 15th, and I got the letter probably around the 27th? It said that they had received my materials and then provided a summary of my information, and if anything was wrong, to correct it right on the form and send it back. It had my intended choice of major and decision to apply for financial aid, so I know they got Part II since that's where you mark that stuff.
