I was wondering how everyone prepared aside from the typical classes? Did you do any special coaching specifically for college auditions?

I didn’t audition for Carnegie, but I did have “special coaching” and 1 MT guy and 1 Acting guy had the same college audition coach, as well as 2 girls who were waitlisted. I don’t think it’s necessary, though.

S attended a performing arts hs so I think his answer would be “yes”, however he felt that a program like Cherubs (Northwestern, summer before senior year) or CMU’s summer program would have given him strong prep for his audition season. He attended Cherubs and thought it raised his level of discipline going into senior year.

My son did have coaching with MTCA, it was wonderful, helpful and worth every penny. He also attended summer programs begining after his Sophomore year. While no specific program or coach can guarantee a student admission anywhere - I do think that the assistance a coach gives is invaluable in the overall process.

What is MTCA?

Musical Theatre College Auditions (MTCA)

Hope that helps. :)
