Did your parents buy you a new car for college?

I think if the parents CAN AFFORD IT, buying their kid a car is normal. Actually many parents give their kids incentives to get into a good school like buying them a car if they get in.

Let’s not put down the poor kid and tell him that his car sucks, he’s probably just dumb and excited about having a new car that he didn’t know how to announce that he got a new car in a way other than the lame question of “is it normal?”

@samsizzle… I would pick 1 all the waaaaaaaaaaay as long as I’m going to college, but when I graduate I’ll get a brand new 2

I don’t know, if your parents bought you like a high class car I would call you spoiled but… it just seems like you needed a car your parents fulfilled that need. shrugs I know plenty of people who got mercedes/bmws etc for high school/college graduation…

Nope. Not even close. I think my parents gave me $100 when I graduated from high school. I drive an almost 20 year old car on its last leg.

Twisted, does AA have a bus system? I know probably a stupid question, but I thought they cut it a few years ago. Maybe I’m confusing it with somewhere else.

I too kind of want to stay in Lansing because of public transportation. That’s so pathetic that we can only live in like 4 cities in Michigan and be able to survive without a car.

International students from Korea specifically have the best cars on campuses. At Purdue, ever nice car is usually owned by a korean student. From their beemers, lexus, mercedes to porsches, they are all lucky… If you go anywhere, usually koreans have luxury cars. Maybe not a high end car like a maserati but cars like beemers do cost a good amount of money.

Oh yes, AA has a great bus system and it’s free for students. We have the AA buses and Michigan actually has its own buses too. We used to have yet another shuttle system but that one was shut down this year. Detroit is the only other city I know of here with public transportation, but it’s such crap it’s hardly worth mentioning.

Maybe I heard about the shuttle system and assumed it was the whole bus system or something. Don’t know, oh well.

Detroit has public transportation? The people mover does not count! Lol.

Haha I never saw anyone in a GT, but I saw plenty of people in 6 and 7 Series’

back at my old school there was also guys/gals driving around in a maserati GT,a 911 turbo, tons of bmw 3series’, and several subaru STIs

STIs aren’t even impressive. They’re just fast.

I have my Surly Long Haul Trucker road bike  It’s pretty much my firstborn

I drive around my parents’ red '06 Toyoda Corolla. But they didn’t give it to me - it’s still theirs, and they keep a bunch of crap in there.

My parents didn’t buy me a car for college, but they did get me a new pair of sneakers so I could walk in comfort.
