2nd SAT -
Critical Reading: 530 Up 10
Mathematics: 620 Up 10
Writing: 570 Down 20
Total: 1720 Same score

I like how they let you choose your best scores from all of your SATs you take to send to colleges as your final score. So here's mine -
Best of all SATs -
Critical Reading: 530
Mathematics: 620
Writing: 590
Total: 1740

The reason people lose points is because they don’t study. If you study, you will do better. It’s as simple as that. I went from 1950 on a BB test to 2150 Oct 08 to 2300 May 09.

PSAT (little studying)
70 CR
80 M
73 W
223 total

1st SAT (lots of studying)
790 CR –> up 90
720 M –> down 80
800 W –> up 70
2310 total –> up 80

2nd SAT (little studying)
800 CR –> up 10 (up 100 from PSAT)
800 M –> up 80 (same as PSAT)
800 W –> same (up 70 from PSAT)
2400 total –> up 90 (up 170 from PSAT)

For the PSAT, I just did some math review and took one practice test the day before. For my first SAT, I did all 8 BB tests. For my second one, I just did the two online tests.

Mine went up ~100 points every time I took it, even though I didn’t study for any besides a practice section or two the night before. Which makes me wonder if its all about luck

The first time I took the test, my scores were
CR-790
M -790
W -660
Total-2240
The second time, my scores went down…
CR-720
M -710
W- 740
total-2170
Though considering super score, the total is now 2320

If you look at statistics and don’t do any studying yourself, you aren’t going to get anywhere. Those statistics aren’t etched in stone. You don’t have a 50% chance of getting a lower score the 2nd time if you study your ass off.

That’s really true Structur3. This is the statistics on CollegeBoard -

Will Retaking the SAT Improve Your Writing Score?

Students who took the SAT for the first time as juniors and got the same writing score you did had a change, on average, of
8 points when they retook the test as seniors:
