<p>I assume that all of you talking about how much you brought are freshman? I guarantee you that by the end of your freshman year you’ll look back and understand why some of us are saying you’re bringing too much. Its not a big deal cause I was…kind of the same way. At my worst I only ever had a trunk,a suitcase, 1 smaller suitcase, a gym bag and a mini fridge. This year its down to a suitcase, the gym bag and the fridge. You’re gonna be staying in this dorm for a year (even if you do summer courses you’re going to have to move out of the dorm first and then back in) there’s no reason to bring all of your stuff, unless you’re completely moving out of your parents house.</p>
<p>You can barely fit a suitcase into the back of a ford fusion, I didn’t have much choice. My fridge or area rug would never have fit. It’s not like I FILLED the truck. XD</p>

<p>Because I didn’t want to walk around on a nasty 100 year old tile floor all year round which turns ice cold in the winter, and I got the rug for free. Why do you have flooring in your house, and why does that logic not apply to a dorm room where you’re going to be staying almost the entire year?</p>
<p>I don’t see why there is such a sense of superiority attached to bringing less stuff. If you can get it to school and get it unpacked without taking up more than your share of the room and without being disorderly, I don’t see why that person should be looked down upon. Seriously, get a life.</p>

<p>Because it’s stupid to bring a lot of stuff, no matter how you look at it. It’s a pain to unpack and pack it all back up, and it forces you to bring an extra trailer / truck / whatever.</p>
<p>Besides, I was just trying to make her feel better about herself. I suggest you not to get so defensive next time someone asks you a simple question.</p>
<p>“Why on earth would you bring an area rug…?” is a question you should know the answer to if you’ve ever been to college -_- those tiles are nasty and scratchy, and if you want to have friends in your cramped room, odds are some of them will have to sit on the floor. </p>
<p>As for how much someone brings to college, I don’t see why it’s a big deal if you have the space for everything and understand that you’re going to have to repack everything at the end of the year. Plus it doesn’t really concern you if you’re not their roommate and it isn’t currently affecting their actual roommate.</p>

<p>If you really can’t see the difference between bringing a small trailer / truck and not bringing one, then there’s nothing more to say. Along with the pain of packing and unpacking, and the fact that it’s usually unnecessary to bring so much… it’s always good to be a minimalist.</p>

<p>Lol, if you’re driving a car with a small trunk and seats that are filled up with people, then why not get a small trailer for stuff? If you’re bringing a fridge, 2 suitcases and some furniture (like lamps), that’s clearly not going to fit. Get off your high horse. You’ll see when you get to college that you’ll end up with more stuff than you started with. Fortunately for you, you didn’t have to haul it all to school at once, but some people have parents that won’t visit often or don’t have time to shop once they arrive to campus.</p>
<p>I personally moved my stuff in 2 cars (a Jeep Liberty with a small trunk and my parents’ Lexus…which also doesn’t have that much space). I brought everything all at once and didn’t have to go downtown to pick up anything else. My parents also only visited once more after then, so yeah, it’s a good thing I brought everything I needed when I drove to school. I figure if you have the luxury of being able to drive to campus, you might as well bring everything you think you might need and your parents can take back things that don’t fit.</p>
