Didn't do as well as I wanted to during my senior year?

So I'm applying to some big name schools, like Stanford, Brown, WUSTL, Rice, Wesleyan, and Bowdoin (those are my reach schools...I'm applying to a lot of match schools).

These are my grades:

Prayer & Meditation: A-
AP Statistics: B+
Intensive Classical Greek Honors: A
English 4 Honors: A
AP English Lit: A
Mandarin 3: A-

I am also taking Calculus outside of school, and I got an A- in that, too.

My weighted GPA this semester is a 3.995. What does this mean for getting in to Rice (my dream school) or WUSTL? And I KNOW these are good grades, but I don't know if they are good ENOUGH for these top schools. I had an upward trend until now because last semester I got a 4.0.

Also, I'm retaking the SAT and shooting for 2200+.

Get a 2200 and you should be okay for Rice.
Also how can you retake the SAT in January?
Rice requires that all SAT/ACT scores are sent in by December 31st.

Rice says that, but I’ve heard from certain sources that if you send the scores in anyway, it doesn’t make a difference.

Most colleges don’t start looking at applications until March, from what I’ve read.

Nice job in Mandarin. Although I’m in Japanese I don’t think I can handle Mandarin. How do you receive an A- in Prayer and Meditation? I don’t think your grades for Senior year are bad at all. A lot of seniors have worser grades than yours so as long as you do well on the essay and on the SAT, you should be fine.

I think the majority of my class got no higher than an A- in Prayer & Meditation because we only had one test and it was practically impossible, but I don’t think college admissions will know that.

AP Stat I have no excuse for, and Mandarin I’m actually prety good at (I won the honors award in Mandarin my sophomore year) but I slacked off to deal with my harder classes because I assumed I would get an A regardless. I ended up with a 92.4 in Prayer & Med and a 92 in Mandarin, which hurts. :(

I used to be in Japanese too when I was in middle school. I am actually only taking Mandarin because it is the closest thing to Japanese. My HS doesn’t offer Japanese.

I guess I just wanted to know how schools like Rice and WUSTL view these grades.

go to rice

I want to, which is why I created this thread.
