Okay, course registration is over, and I have one class that I really wanted to be a part of, that I couldn't get...

Could I perhaps talk to the professor of that class and see if he/she can get me a slot into his or her class? Or am I forced to look to other classes as an alternative (no choice)?

Isn’t there a wailtlist that you can get on, then if someone drops out you could get the spot?
My D has been on several waitlists before.

The best thing to do is email the professor regarding your interest in their respective class and why you would want to be a part of it. It worked for one of my cousins who also goes to a city school.

Another way is to speak with your advisor. If you are lucky or have a good reason for taking the course, such as it is required and you are taking other classes for the other times the course is offered, they can manually place you in.
