So, like many others here, I'm in my senior year and in the midst of applying to various colleges. However, I've come across a problem.

I took one AP class last year, US History (I would have taken more, but I was taking Photo I as a prerequisite to AP Photo this year), but I didn't take the AP exam because I didn't really see the need to. For one thing, I took the class more for the rigor of the course rather than to get AP credit. Also, many of the schools I'm applying to are pretty stingy regarding credit for AP courses. I'm taking 6 AP classes this year, including European History, which I plan on taking the test for. That's another reason - for most of the schools I'm applying to, APUSH and Euro exams count for the same credit, so it's kind of pointless to take both.

My question is, since I won't be reporting my APUSH exam score on the application (I'm using common app), should I be honest and provide an explanation or would that explanation hurt me more than help me? I'm just wondering because I'm worried that if I don't explain my leaving out the score, they'll think I did badly on the test and chose not to report it. Also, if I should explain it, should I write that in the "Additional Information" section of the Writing portion?

In addition, I got an A in the class and I plan on taking the US History SAT II in December, if either of those pieces of information change anything.

Thank you for any input!
