Hello!

I'm a career changer and would like to earn a second degree in Dietetics in order to become a registered dietitian, hopefully a couple credits will transfer. ADA has a list of accredited programs and LSU is among them. Dietetics programs are not ranked so pretty much all I can get are opinions from people. I wouldn't be in state but the tuition rate is reasonable for OOS -or at least a lot less than most schools-.

Would you consider LSU a good bargain (great education for the cost)?
How tough are the classes, are the teachers good?
Are taking this major/related one and know about the classes?
Are there any good internship/job opportunities for dietitians?

Any insights would be of great help..thanks!

Ok I can give a shot at what I can answer.

Yes I think LSU is a great value. It is not an “elite” school, but it is a good quality state school.

Not sure about your major, but classes vary. There are some very easy ones, some very difficult ones. For dietetics, you will have to take the science classes that science majors take, and I hear they can be quite a challenge. Some professors are top notch, others poor. It varies greatly.

The only thing I know about Dietitians related to LSU is that one of the principle people behind Weight Watchers is a professor. At least this was the case within a few years.

LSU thank you! if you ever come across related info please let me know!
