I want to join a video streaming service before i go to college and I always hear how netlifx is better but amazon gives students deals (link to their deal below). Is it worth it to get netflix or better to get amazon prime? Does netflix have any student discounts anyway?

Amazon prime is probably a better deal for college students because it has free 2 day shipping & discounts on books etc.
When you enroll in college you get a school email, right? With that email you can enroll in amazon prime & the first 6 months are free.
The streaming titles - less stuff than netflix and not all are free. But they do have exclusive streaming rights to some popular shows.
I don’t think netflix has student deals but they may have the individual streaming now which is a bit cheaper.
Remember you are supposed to be studying, not binge-watching shows. :D

Netflix doesn’t have student discounts but generally has a better selection. I believe it is $8.99 a month for streaming only. Amazon Student was $39.99 a year the last time I signed up, but I think the price has increased. Prime also gets you 2-day shipping on a lot of stuff.

I have Netflix and Amazon Prime but I only use Netflix to watch movies/tv shows… if that answers your question.

I used to have both. I just have Amazon Prime Student now. The free 2 day shipping is an amazing thing to have when you need things in a hurry. The streaming is great. They have a ton of stuff. The selection isn’t quite as broad as Netflix, but there’s still plenty to choose from.

They get a lot of current shows right away or next day as well. For instance, I’ve been watching Defiance on Syfy since the first season premiered. There is a new episode on tonight, and it will be available on Amazon around 2 am tonight. The newer shows aren’t typically free. I paid about $30 for a full season pass for season 2 of Defiance. But it’s not just to stream them…when you pay for it, you can download it and own it forever.

If you watch a lot of shows, this isn’t really worth it. But this is the only new show that I actually watch currently, so it was worth it to me. I’d be paying more than $30 for one month of cable/satellite, and probably wouldn’t be watching much else anyway.

It also might be worth pointing out that Amazon Prime has Instant Music now as well. You can stream a ton of music straight from Amazon. This is a service that I haven’t used at all yet, but it could be beneficial to some.
