different branch

I am currently an enlisted in the Navy. Is it possible for a sailor seeking admission at USMA?

I dont see why not. I know of a Marine enlisted that applied after two tours in Iraq and he just graduated from West Point this past May. He was able to cross-branch back to the Marines after graduation but that option is open on case by case basis.

I like the navy, I just don’t like the USNA (don’t know why) but USMA is awesome and I want to be part of it to hang out with Gen. Douglas MacArthur-caliber type of people. So case by cased basis seem quite difficult for me to obtain because I am a navy nuke (when you in navy nuke…they ain’t letting you go until 6 years or some compromises whatsoever) currently still in training process and I know a small % of the nuke boys/girls also attend the USNA after their nuke school. My primary concern is that if I mention my intention of wanting to attend USMA instead of USNA to the chain of command at nuke school, it gonna be “go navy, beat army” mentality which in turn reflect badly on my request of admission.

Well, I know that the Marine we are acquainted with didnt run into any roadblocks by not going USNA–all you can do is try, right? Good Luck!!!

My brother and I graduated from usma a few years ago. I went infantry and my brother cross branched and joined as a navy nuke officer on subs. He did not having any issues with the Army letting him go because going navy made sense since he was a nuke major at usma. Also, I dont really think that some navy guy is going to get ****ed at you for wanting to go to west point. In the time I have been in the army, I have never seen anyone take that “go army, beat navy” thing seriously. Thats just some stupid thing you have to say at football and dfac while at west point. Go for it brother,

do they also take “diversity” as part of decision whether am I legit for the academy? (i’m asian)

Seriously, dont even play that card. Diversity is BS. You should get into West Point on your own merit, not based on where your parents go off the boat

LOL— Lots of Asians at West Point!

lol I was just asking because I heard some said they do take diversity and some said they don’t but either way, I will still have to study my @$$ off in order to stand out at nuke school for them to even consider me 1st.
