Different GPA scale for mid-year report?

My GC decided to submit my unweighted GPA for my 9-11th grade transcript because it looked a lot better than my weighted GPA, but for the midyear report they want to submit my weighted GPA (also because they think it would benefit me). Is that okay? I feel like it would be confusing for colleges so I want to ask them to submit my unweighted GPA, but they’re easily offended so if it doesn’t matter then I won’t.

Schools use different calculations (weighted/ unweighted) and colleges are used to that and weigh your grades based on what they may know about your school’s rigor and the school profile. I don’t think which they submitted would make a difference but, in my opinion, there is no benefit to anyone when a school is inconsistent. When they decided to submit your unweighted GPA for 9 - 11th because it looked better than your weighted GPA are you saying they made this decision on a student basis rather than submit unweighted or weighted across the board for all seniors?

@paveyourpath At my school, usually for the top 10% they make the decision on a student basis. For everyone else, they submit weighted. So, I guess I should leave it alone???

@kbn2015 That is interesting. Imagine how that looks to a school that is receiving applications from more than 1 student from your school. Most student profiles indicate whether the GPA is weighted or unweighted. This just creates more work for the admissions officers. To then switch it is strange because the mid-year report is to provide information on what you did this year. Now the transcript will look different than what was originally submitted. I don’t see how it looks better to have a higher grade on a more expansive scale than it is to have a lower grade on a 4.0 scale. I guess if that is what your school has been doing, just let it be.

@paveyourpath okay, thank you!!
